Qooc Soft – “Kung Fu Strike” gameplay trailer
Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise Coming to XBox Live !
7sixty and developer Qooc Soft are pleased to announce that Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise is heading to Xbox LIVE Arcade this year. The Simply Sound team worked on the audio assets, audio of “in-game” trailer and part of the music background of the game.
Taking its inspiration from ancient Chinese tales of revenge and retribution then adding a dash of over-the-top martial arts movies and old school arcade fun, Kung Fu Strike is a fast-paced beat-‘em-up where the player can seamlessly blend powerful punches, high kicks and perfectly timed blocks to pull off combos that devastate hordes of enemies. This is all thanks to a fluid combat system that turns brawling into an art form… OF PAIN.
Alongside the tight combat system and art style inspired by Chinese calligraphy, Kung Fu Strike features unlockable techniques that add to the repertoire of agony for your enemies, support characters that can be called in to help when your fists fail you and special equipment that can potentially turn the tide of battle. What’s more, if you’re too weak and puny to go it alone, there is local two-player co-op and versus mode to prove you are the martial arts maestro.
Kung Fu Strike tells the story of General Loh, a warrior struggling to avenge his father’s death while around him ancient China spirals out of control due to warring factions that threaten to split the country apart. Will Loh find out who is responsible for his father’s death? Can he save his homeland from destruction? And will he ever discover what the mysterious ‘Zen Room of Emptiness’ is?
When a release date has been confirmed, we’ll keep you posted…
The “in-game” trailer will be available very soon on this page !

Press review by Global Times – About Voice-Over work
A couple of month ago, George Wyndham from Global Times came in our studio to ask me a few questions about voice-over opportunities in Shanghai and China. Please find a part of his article below…
By George Wyndham
It’s no secret that foreign voice-over artists, be it part- or full-time, have been making decent money in Shanghai’s advertising industry for a while. And in the last five years, the city has also witnessed the rise of video games production outsourcing, English-language television programming and locally made language learning audio tools. These industries have provided some of Shanghai’s golden-tongued expats with a steady stream of income. The Global Times recently met up with some of the city’s most versatile voice and recording talents to discuss their careers.
Video games
“Currently we are getting far more work from video game producing clients than those involved in advertising,” Alex Riviere, manager of Simply Sound told the Global Times. “We typically get calls on a Friday from a video game company saying they need voices, usually English speakers, by next Wednesday for certain specialized characters. So we have to deliver fast.”
Riviere, having previously produced hip-hop artists in France, recently set up his own recording studio in Shanghai and is primarily engaged in voice-over work. He explained that one reason for this high demand is because video games are becoming increasingly cinematic.
“Computer and video game production is being increasingly contracted out to China and Shanghai,” he said. “Even though a company such as Epic Games is foreign-owned and based outside of China, they come to us here in need of foreign voices.”
Voices for appropriate video game characters are chosen from Riviere’s large database of several hundred samples and sent to the client who has the final say in who gets chosen for the role.
